Do you guys ever wonder where things get their origins or is it just me??? Kaye would always say that I was just NOSY!!! No seriously... have your ever wondered about the BLESSING? I bet everyone has said it whither they went to church or not. Where did it come from???
May I suggest that it came from David in Psalm 145.....
3 Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise!
9 The Lord is good to everyone.
10 All of your works will thank you, Lord,
16 When you open your hand,
you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.
21 I will praise the Lord,
and may everyone on earth bless his holy name
forever and ever.
Cool, isn't it???
Now... I saw much MORE in this Psalm... in my last post I suggested that David prophesied about the RAPTURE of the Church. Today it hit me that he was prophesying about the FIRST & SECOND COMING and Eternal REIGN of Christ. Look...
1 I will exalt you, my God and King, and praise your name forever and ever.
Jesus came the FIRST time as EMMANUEL- "GOD with us" and He will come the SECOND time as "KING of kings and LORD of lords".
7 Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy about your righteousness.
Jesus came to die for our sins and give us Eternal life. That is why we share the GOSPEL- "The GOOD NEWS about Jesus Christ and what He has done for us"
12 They will tell about your mighty deeds and about the majesty and glory of your reign.
13 For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations.
If that isn't enough in itself for us to Bless God, David gives us 20 TRUTHS about God:
1) He is MERCIFUL
2) He is COMPASSIONATE
3) He is slow to ANGER
4) He is filled with UNFAILING LOVE
5) He is GOOD to everyone
6) Showers COMPASSION on ALL His creation
7) He ALWAYS keeps His PROMISES
8) He is GRACIOUS in ALL He does
9) He HELPS the fallen
10) He LIFTS those with heavy burdens
11) He GIVES FOOD as needed
12) He SATISFIES the HUNGER and THIRST of EVERY living thing
13) He is RIGHTEOUS in EVERYTHING He does
14) He is filled with KINDNESS
15) He is CLOSE to those who CALL on Him
16) He GRANTS the desires of those who FEAR Him
17) He HEARS our cries for HELP
18) He RESCUES us
19) He PROTECTS all who LOVE Him
20) He DESTROYS the wicked
TODAY let us all BLESS the LORD and His Son JESUS CHRIST for all they have done and will continue to do for us!!!! Indeed... "God is Great and God is Good. Let us THANK Him!!!"
This week and last week in Bible Study, we have been talking about the "RAPTURE" of the Church of Christ. I personally believe that it can happen at ANY SECOND!!! All Biblical Prophecies referring to this event have already been fulfilled... you do the math!
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 New Living Translation (NLT)
16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. 17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.
I never realized until today that King David prophesied about this event himself. Check this out...
Psalm 144:5-7 New Living Translation (NLT)
5 Open the heavens, Lord, and come down.
Touch the mountains so they billow smoke.
6 Hurl your lightning bolts and scatter your enemies!
Shoot your arrows and confuse them!
7 Reach down from heaven and rescue me;
rescue me from deep waters,
from the power of my enemies.
I myself and looking forward to this glorious event because I am ready and I know that my life is pleasing to Him so I have nothing to be ashamed of.
Have you ever been disappointed by a good friend or someone really close to you has not met up to your expectations??? More times than you can count I bet.
Joyce Meyer once said, "Take it to the THRONE and not to the PHONE!!!" We live in such a fast paced society that we want INSTANT confirmation or gratification. We go to the Social Media first and when all that fails... we turn to God as a last result. That is just so wrong!!! Wonder when we will ever get it straight and put God FIRST???
It appears that King David had the same problem...
Psalm 142:4 New Living Translation (NLT)
4 I look for someone to come and help me,
but no one gives me a passing thought!
No one will help me;
no one cares a bit what happens to me.
Waaa... waaa.. waaa. Whoa is me!!! When will we ever learn that friends, family, children and parents can not be counted on. EVERYONE will end up disappointing us sooner or later!!!! BUT
3 When I am overwhelmed, You(God) alone know the way I should turn.
5 Then... I pray to you, O Lord. I say, “You are my place of refuge. You are all I really want in life.
WHEN we learn to depend on God, who will never leave us or forsake us... we will never be disappointed again. Not only will He meet our expectations but He will go beyond what we could ever think or even imagine.
Regret - "to be very sorry"
Anybody out there have REGRETS over certain parts of their lives? Things from your past that you wished never happened? Things that you just wised you could erase from your memory? Please don't worry because we have ALL been there!
Let me tell you a little SECRET... There is absolutely NOTHING in your life that has not been placed there by God Himself. Nothing surprises Him!!! Infact He is expecting us to screw up so He can come to our rescue.
Check this out...Psalm 139:16 New Living Translation (NLT)
16 You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.
There is NOTING at all in our lives that we should have regrets over!!! God IS in control!!! He is always with us and willl never leave us. He is there!!!
Have you ever asked yourself or God, "Why did this person have to die???" It seems so unfair that good people seem to die earlier than evil people... what is up with that?!?!
It is really quite simple actually. Look what Jesus said....
John 14:1-3 New Living Translation (NLT)
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. 2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. 'If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.
Revelation 21:2 New Living Translation (NLT)
And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
Most people believe that we will live forever in Eternity up in the sky, in Heaven. Some even believe that we will be sitting on clouds... W R O N G ! ! !
That is not what the Bible teaches. Revelation Chapter 21 tells us all about the New Jerusalem. It will come down from the heavens and it will be where we will live forever in the presence of God Himself. That is where the streets will be made of gold, we will eat from the Tree of Life, there will be no sickness, or death, or weeping, and we will have mansions to live in.
Today in my QT, I read about it in Psalms...
13 For the Lord has chosen Jerusalem; he has desired it for his home.
14 “This is my resting place forever,” he said. “I will live here, for this is the home I desired.
15 I will bless this city and make it prosperous; I will satisfy its poor with food.
16 I will clothe its priests with godliness; its faithful servants will sing for joy.
17 Here I will increase the power of David; my anointed one will be a light for my people.
18 I will clothe his enemies with shame, but he will be a glorious king.”
Sounds pretty good, huh??? There is only one problem though.... there in only ONE way to get there!!!
J E S U S ! ! ! "I am the way, the truth, and the life. NO ONE can come to the Father except through ME." John 14:6
2 Corinthians 12:1-10 New Living Translation (NLT)
1 This boasting will do no good, but I must go on. I will reluctantly tell about visions and revelations from the Lord. 2 I was caught up to the third heaven fourteen years ago. Whether I was in my body or out of my body, I don’t know—only God knows. 3 Yes, only God knows whether I was in my body or outside my body. But I do know 4 that I was caught up to paradise and heard things so astounding that they cannot be expressed in words, things no human is allowed to tell.
5 That experience is worth boasting about, but I’m not going to do it. I will boast only about my weaknesses. 6 If I wanted to boast, I would be no fool in doing so, because I would be telling the truth. But I won’t do it, because I don’t want anyone to give me credit beyond what they can see in my life or hear in my message, 7 even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud.
8 Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. 9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 10 That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
I FINALLY figured it out.... sleepless nights; bad thoughts, loosing my temper, cussing, my drinks lasting longer than two days, etc, etc!!!
Dr Eury here, decided to reduce her MEDS to save money and try to get off her "Mean Pills". I figured that since God and I have such a wonderful relationship that I didn't need modern medicine to help me cope.... W R O N G ! ! !
My personal "THORN in the FLESH" started in 1987 but I didn't receive professional help until 1996. This blue plastic box has been my constant companion until this present day along with God and His Word. They go with me everywhere I go.
At LEAST three times I have tried to get rid of them but God says "My grace is all you need. My POWER works best in weakness!"
Therefore, I will continue (SOMEHOW) to take my "mean pills" at the dosage prescribed so that I can "boast about my weakness, so that the power of Christ can work through me."
Please do not be ashamed of your BLUE PLASTIC BOXES... God uses them to help show His power to others!!! He gives us them to help us cope with our WEAKNESSES!
Any of you out there with kids how probably some time during their life, have quoted this verse. But then you get to the TWEEN and TEENAGE years and go "Lord, what happened?!?"
Well let's break this verse down and see what we missed!!!
The word "CHILD" here is donating the ages between 3 and 6 when the personality of the child is being developed. Those are the most important years to build the proper CHARACTER of your children.
Then we come to the word "OLD"... today's generation consider old beginning around 40 to 50.
Now do you see what is missing here??? God KNEW that all kids between say 10-20 were going to be a HANDFUL, so they are even excluded from this verse. SOOOOOO.... don't give up hope on those WAYWARD kids, they will at some point, "when they are old"... return to the Christian standards and values that you worked so hard to instill in them. Why do you think our lives here on earth are called a FAITH JOURNEY.
Psalm 127:3 New Living Translation (NLT)
Children are a gift from the Lord;
they are a reward from him.
The church that I am a member of is an hour from where I am living and the majority of the trip is on back farm roads. One Sunday I got to church on FUMES so I had to ask for a gas card to buy enough gas to get back home on. (If you KNOW me... then you realize how hard that was!!!)
On my way home, I saw a stopped SUV on the side of the road so I went on passed. Then the Holy Spirit said go back. So I backed up and there was a man and women sitting in it. I asked if they needed any help and they said they were OUT of GAS. (Yes I knew all about that). I told them I would see what I could do... knowing that I had a gallon can in the back of my van. So I went in search of a gas station.
I had no idea that the closest station was going to be in Shallotte, some 20 miles out of my way. But I went, running out my own gas to help them out. I just happened to have $3 in my emergency fund to buy enough gas to get them to the station. Of course when I got back with the gas, they had walked on. So... I put the gas in the tank and a note on the widow that said what I had done.
The MORAL of this story: It is more blessed to give than to receive.
I believe it was a TEST for myself. I could have said , "Sorry I had to beg for my own gas and I am completely broke!!!" As Christians, we are to represent Jesus to those around us, even if it is a STRETCH!!!
I think these pictures here say it all... please focus on their message!!!
(n) mental distress or agitation resulting from concern; anxiety
(v) to feel or experience concern or anxiety
Are any of you concerned or anxious about anything??? Let's see.... ObamaCare; loss of a job; loss of a spouse; unruly teenagers; unreliable transportation; not enough food; not enough money and the list goes on and on!!!
Well if you are.... then please know that you are not alone!!!
Let's see what the Word says about it:
Proverb 12:25 "Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up"
Matthew 6:27 "Jesus says, Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?"
Luke 21:34 "Watch Out! Don't let your hearts be dulled by the worries of this life."
1 Peter 5:7 "Give all your worries and care to God, for He cares about you."
Philippians 4:6 "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done."
Do you see how simple it is to overcome all your worries??? Just give them to God through the power of Jesus' name. WHY??? Because He cares about you and will never let you go!!!
